- Melissa Bartlett,
named 'Dog Cartoonist of the Year for 1987' by the Dog Writers' Association
of America, had her first article, ‘‘A Novice Looks at Puppy
Aptitude Testing,” published by the American Kennel Gazette in 1979.
Since then her numerous articles and delightful illustrations have appeared
in various publications, and she was the illustrator for "Training
Your Dog: The Step-by-Step Manual and Teaching Dog Obedience Classes: The
Manual for Instructors." Fifteen years ago she started her training
career in a class taught by Jack Volhard and since then has become involved
in a variety of teaching activities, including helping handicapped people
with their pets.
- Jack Volhard, internationally
known as a “trainer of trainers,” is the recipient of five awards
from the Dog Writers’ Association of America (DWAA), He has also authored
more than a hundred articles for various dog publications. Over the past
twenty years, through his obedience classes, lectures, seminars and training
camps, he has taught more than ten thousand people how to communicate with
their dogs, how to make training fun for both owner and dog and thereby
achieve a mutually rewarding relationship.
