"WHAT ALL GOOD DOGS SHOULD KNOW

--THE SENSIBLE WAY TO TRAIN"

BY JACK VOLHARD AND MELISSA BARTLETT

"I want to tell you that we are already having definite successes using your "What All Good Dogs Should Know" with our new (12 weeks old today) puppy, Donner. Last week I emailed Marianne B. to tell her the news as soon as we brought him home and she immediately recommended your book. We are enjoying your illustrations immensely, finding the techniques very straight-forward and the book exceedingly readable- which is important as my 12 and 14 year old kids are also very interested in participating in training and we all want to be consistent in our technique!"--Susan W.

"Just got my new book in the mail from Direct Book Service. The title is "What All Good Dogs Should Know" and it's by Jack Volhard and Melissa Bartlett. Her drawings are all through the book, but my absolute favorite one is at the end. The caption underneath is a statement about training and the bond between man and dog, and the illustration shows a man walking a perfectly heeling dog who's watching the man and guess what breed the dog is????? A beautiful Berner! Way to go Melissa!! I know I'm going to like this book!!!"--Sue G. and Shelby (who's learning to heel just like that!!)

"I always recommend "What All Good Dogs Should Know" in my dog obedience classes and to my private clients. It's fun, easy to understand, and has excellent information. In addition, I've worked to get our local animal shelter to give one copy to each person adopting a dog. It's a tremendous help in getting people off to the right start with their new dog"--Evelyn Gregory, Dog Obedience Instructor

"The illustrations are super and get the point across as well as the words."--April R.

"There is a wonderful book called 'What All Good Dogs Should Know...' a book filled with sensible advice, especially helpful for new puppy owners. In fact, one breeder relates that she buys several of these books and hands them to her puppy buyers. This book is small and in an easy-to-read format, which along with Melissa's drawings, not only entertains but also educates the reader. The book deals with important questions as "Why train your dog?" and "Who is training whom?" ...Basic commands (sit, down, stay and the ever-popular come when called) are discussed, as are those endearing puppy behaviors 'Barking, Chewing and Digging'. At the end of the book is a caption under the last drawing that states: "Training strengthens the bond between man and dog." Well said."--Susan German, The Alpenhorn, December, 1996
